Day of the Dead Show Sneak Preview: Cody SchibiCody Schibi is pretty much the polar opposite of who I am as an artist, but I think that is why I like him so much. He is a horror artist, which allows him to play with the intricate details of every gory inch of his pieces. Despite his residence in Austin and mine in Detroit, we’ve actually done quite a few shows together now (included places far away from both of us). I’m really happy he wanted to participate in this show. I’m also stoked that he gave me two excellent new pieces to put up.

Inspired by underwater life, multidisciplinary artist Sayuri Sasaki Hemann has created a breathtaking jellyfish aquarium, titled Underwater Flight located at Portland International Airport. Continuing her exploration of the way light is reflected on different mediums, she experiments with coloured organza, wool felting fibers and silk to build this magical underwater kingdom.
